What to Wear?

Wear Something that Makes You Happy and Comfortable

We will be moving, standing, sitting, walking. Talk to each other. Don’t match, but do coordinate. Wear clothing that has the have the same dressiness. You guys already look like a family. Don’t hamper your individuality by forcing matching. Let’s be honest, you always look awesome together, you don’t need special matching outfits for that.

Consider Color

Although I love to wear black as much as the next guy, black can be a tough color for photographers. Again, you don’t need to match. Pick a color theme or pallet and go from there. Pinterest has some great color ideas for family photos. Before you go out and buy another outfit, you probably already have everything you need. Spend some time with favorite items you already own.

Flatter Yourself

You’re organizing, you’re planning, and you’re making it happen. Don’t forget abut you, you deserve to look amazing in these photos. Play up things you love about yourself. If you have a feature you are proud of, don’t hide it! If you have an area of insecurity, think about how you can minimize that as a focal point with your outfit choice/accessories/etc. If you have insecurities that you want to share with me, let’s have that chat! we’re all working on self-love. But, you're not allowed to do negative self talk during your session. Let's get any concerns out of the way beforehand, so it doesn't bring us down on session day.

It Really is About the Memories

There is nothing more beautiful than showing how you love and share joy. It isn’t about the smiling and posing, it’s about spending quality time together and documenting that connection. If we do that, you’re going to look great and feel all warm and fuzzy inside when you see the images hanging on your walls.
